Rules for International and Foreign Exchange ​Students and Parents

  • Students are expected to comply with all school rules as outlined in the student handbook.
  • School attendance is mandatory and is a requirement of maintaining F-1 visa status.
  • The drinking of alcoholic beverages and the use of illegal drugs are prohibited. A description and listing of all prescription medications must be provided to the host family and WI Valley upon arrival.
  • Driving of automobiles or any motorized vehicle must comply with laws of the State of Wisconsin and the United States.
  • Students must comply with all host family regulations (curfew, chores, computer usage, family meals, etc.). First, students and host families are encouraged to resolve disagreements with each other. Any unsatisfactorily resolved disputes should be brought to the attention of the Primary Designated School Official.
  • While enrolled as an I-20 student at WI Valley, all students are under jurisdiction of local, state, and federal laws and must obey all government laws, including those regarding immigrant status.
  • Students are not permitted to travel independently during their enrollment. Travel is only permitted if accompanied by an approved adult or with an organized group. School approval must be obtained if the trip takes place during school sessions. Approval may also be required by the student’s natural parents, host parents, the WVLHS PDSO.


Violation of the above rules and others posted in other documents or programs may result in the immediate dismissal of the student from the program.


Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School also reserves the right to terminate a student’s F-1 visa status if the student’s physical or mental health is deemed to be at risk, as determined by WVLHS.
