Bowl-A-Thon
 (February 26, 2012)

Sponser Info

Earlier this week, we handed out folders to your students including everything they need to participate in our Rally for the Valley at the Ally Bowl-a-thon.  This year's bowl-a-thon will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26th and we'll be bowling from 6:00-10:00 (I know this may not seem like an ideal time, but it's the time and day that worked for Weston Lanes which really works with us to help us make the most on the fundraiser that we can, and we are grateful to them for that!) Last year we had GREAT participation from our students and families, from families of future Valley students, from Board members, churches and friends of The Valley, and we were able to raise over $20,000!  This is our largest and one of our easiest fund-raisers, but we need everyone to participate to make it work.

In the folder that your student received there is a letter explaining how the Bowl-a-thon works and what you can do to get pledges to raise money for The Valley while you have a GREAT time of fun and fellowship bowling with friends and family.

The folders also include a registration form, we must have a completed registration form for EACH bowler who plans to participate.  (Thanks for the early registration forms that came in already!)

The folders contain a pledge sheet:  for those neighbors and friends who live near you and you want to ask to support you.  It also works great for parents and others who will be bowling to take to work to ask co-workers for pledges, and then you can also ask those in your congregations to support your efforts through making a donation or pledge of support.

Finally there are 30 letters in the Bowl-a-thon folder for you and your student to mail out to friends and family who do not live in the area, but who you think would be happy to support you as you bowl for an awesome cause that is close to your heart.  We suggest that you send these to your family, your friends, your dentists, your doctors, old neighbors, college friends, etc.  Last year the letters that had the most response were those that had a hand written note on them from the students or whoever was bowling, asking for support for The Valley.  A personal note can make all the difference!

In the folder we have also provided a sheet of 30 labels with The Valley's address on them--we are asking you to purchase small envelopes to mail out with the letters (addressed to The Valley using the labels) so that people can mail their donation/pledges back to WI Valley in the small envelopes.  We will keep track of how much is raised by everyone and what our running totals are and share those numbers as we go along.

Just let us know what you need!

Jamie
